NORMAN Stakeholder Workshop on Advanced Analytics for Plastics
21 May 2026 (in person)
Venue: Brighlands Circular Space, Brightlands Chemelot Campus – Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands
The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and Environmental Institute (EI) on behalf of the NORMAN Network, and Brightlands Circular Space cordially invite you to a Stakeholder Workshop on Advanced Analytics for Plastics, with a specific focus on HRMS‑based non‑target screening (NTS) for the identification and characterisation of chemicals associated with plastics. The workshop is organised in the context of the 2026 NORMAN Joint Programme of Activities (JPA) on Chemicals in Plastics and is scheduled adjacent to the SETAC Europe Annual Meeting 2026 in Maastricht, enabling interaction between scientific, regulatory, and industrial communities.
Workshop objectives
The workshop aims to bring key stakeholders across the plastics value chain together to:
- Foster dialogue and opportunities for collaboration
- Demonstrate how state‑of‑the‑art HRMS‑based non‑target screening (NTS) enables the detection and characterisation of known and unknown chemicals in plastics and plastic leachates, supporting innovation in plastics design, production, and recycling
- Explore how advanced analytics can support regulatory needs, chemical risk assessment, and evidence‑based decision‑making, helping to move from perspective to action
- Identify knowledge gaps and shared priorities across research, industry, and policy
Target audience
- Academia and applied research organisations
- Plastics and materials industry
- Policy makers and regulatory authorities
